One Week!
1 week! It was a little hard to keep up with this over the weekend. I had to take some photos in advance, but all worked out.
I just didn't feel like I had the time near the end of the week to really improve on my photos and get extra creative. Hopefully this week will feel more limiting, and that will encourage me to be more creative with what I have to work with!
I went to the flower shop today - that seems like the type of work I would love doing. On my feet all day, working with people, and designing in a new way. Something to think about!

Day Three
Still going strong! Day 3 has arrived... What (edit: delete "on earth" and replace with "in my living room") will I photograph tonight? The good thing is that my work days have been a little slower. I've been getting home at a decent time, and freelance work is slowing down. I can take pictures earlier, so that means better lighting in the living room!
Not much new to report, but I have noticed that I'm looking at objects in a new light, so to speak. It's like when you repeat a common word over and over again in your head until it eventually sounds like a foreign language and has no meaning at all.
I've stared at these everyday objects so much that they're just starting to look like strange, blobs of color. A vase is now just a strange, ceramic, blue blob. And when I zoom out, I can add a yellow background, and if I include a corner of the book shelf, a black triangle filled with multi-colored rectangles.
Tonight I think I'll experiment with color!

Questions
I'm already freaking out about this project. What am I doing? No one cares about what happens on my sofa. Silk flowers? Stupid. Maybe I need to visit other people's sofas.
Ugh... Day 2 and already I can't sit still! I'm ready to take on everyone's sofa.
The whole point of this was to use the only down time I have during the day in a constructive way, but I feel lazy. All I want to do is get off the couch.
I guess I have to remember that if this project makes me want to get outside more - great, but I still need to finish this. At some point in the evening, I will sit down on the couch, and when I do, I'm determined to use that time in a positive way.
Last night I started to really wonder if this even made sense... I mean, 31 photos? I snapped 50 just last night. Though when I sat down at my computer to look at them, most of them were crap. In fact, I'd even call the flowers crap - I just liked the depth of field. Maybe it's good that I know that.
This morning after Mark left, I had 10 minutes alone in the apartment, and the sun was coming in, so the light was different, and I snapped a few photos.
Picture frames, silk flowers, my blurry reflection in the TV, a Netflix envelope, an empty beer bottle. Each single thing its own.
I think tonight I need to experiment with combining some objects. Silk flowers are just silk flowers. But flowers, a Netflix envelope, and a beer bottle tell a story... maybe a sad, boring story, but a story nonetheless. On to the next.

The Rules
So I guess I should have a few simple rules for this project:
Of course, I'll be staying on the couch. I won't stage any photos. The living room will change as it usually does throughout the week. I think that about sums it up!

The Sofa
So here it is... my sofa... where all the photo action will take place.
This picture was taken about 2 years ago, but at least it sets the scene.
This may be the most boring project anyone has undertaken... but this is what my life has become - work all day, dinner, then TV time before bed.
I've taken on some new projects - sewing, loom knitting, scrap-booking. Each project seems too big to get into in that hour of free time I have each week night. I end up just giving in to the sofa... where I'm secure, comfortable, and can completely shut off my mind. Well, no more! The sofa will now be my throne of thirty [one] days of creative photography!
Anyway. Maybe at the end of my 31 days, the only thing I'll have accomplished is simply knowing that I need to get off the couch... or maybe I'll have some kind of John-Lennon-ish revolutionary "awakening" and decide that I should never leave the couch again, that I can achieve world peace from my sofa! For now I'm starting with 31 photos.

Sofa Snapping Intro
Plenty busy, but plenty bored with what's keeping me busy. Time for a new project! I'm not feeling ambitious enough to cook 500+ Julia Child recipes, so how about... 31 [creative] photos from my sofa. I'll call it something like, um... "Sofa Snapping - A Project I Can Do Lying Down." Please forgive me if it turns into "Sofa Napping" -Adding it to the "Crap-To-Do" list.
